Pontiac Lake State Recreation Area is a giant 3,745-acre park in Waterford Township, MI. The park contains marshes, heavy forests, old farm fields, and lakes. It is located beside Pontiac Lake and features a beautiful half-mile beach for swimming and relaxing.
The state park is bursting with outdoor activities for visitors. There is an 11-mile mountain bike trail within the park. It was voted as one of the top 100 mountain bike trails in the U.S. by MTB Project. You can also camp, canoe, horseback riding, picnic, hike, or fish at Pontiac Lake State Recreation Area. There is also a fenced dog park!
The Oakland County Farmer’s Market is a great place to buy fresh produce, flowers, baked goods, and handmade goods. It has a beautiful indoor/outdoor venue. You can get food directly from local farmers including Michigan cherries.
The farmer’s market is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from May to December. From January to April, it is only open on Saturdays. The Oakland County Farmers Market is located on Pontiac Lake Road in Waterford Township. The market has events such as Oakland Uncorked, Yoga at the Market, Food Truck Rally, and many others!
If you’re looking for Michigan craft beer, you need to check out Rustic Leaf Brewing Company. The local brewery opened in 2017 and is located on M-59 in Waterford Township. Doug Neubeck is the founder and head brewer. The brewery’s decor is designed by local artists.
Some of Rustic Leaf’s beers are Newbies (American IPA), Rustic Leaf Amber, Go-Zilla Gose, Toes in The Sand (American wheat), and Berry On My Wayward Son (hard cider). They also have a rotating tap for seasonal beers.
